🌸Who is Momokiyo

I am hobbie artist based in Canada. I create hand stitched plushies from my little home studio, where each piece is designed with intention, stitched with care, and sent out with love.

When I was younger and my mom would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always replied “a giver”. In kid terms that actually meant I wanted to show up to peoples houses and give them gifts to make their day, a sort of Santa Claus if you will.

As I got older, I fell in love with creating. Starting with painting and colouring, and then expanding to all sorts of materials from clays, fabrics, resins, ingredients and eventually computer code. My hobbies lay in the center between maths/sciences and art/engineering , the core being the love to create things from scratch and increase my understanding of the world around me.

I bounced back and fourth between a career in science/medicine or a career in art and ended up pursuing one in computer science, as it gave me room for creativity, fed my love for math, and kept me on my toes on the psychology of humans.

However there is still a drive in me to create things in the material world, adorable things that bring people joy and help ignite their inner child's playfulness. The outcome of that drive is this new adventure I call Momokiyo surprise.

🌱 How It Started

When I was younger I would spend a lot of my time locked away in my small bedroom designing and bringing these soft plush creatures to life. Through my love for Pokemon, Digimon, Lord of the Rings and The Lengend of Zelda (which I attribute a lot of my inspiration to),  I loved the idea of developing my own universe, handmade from my own fingertips. As I got older I strayed away from this creative outlet, until recently, I wanted to honour my inner child and provide myself the chance to share my universe with the public.

✨ My Philosophy

Everything in this shop is small batch and handmade. I don’t mass produce. I make things one at a time. I hand stitch every plushie and don't use a machine. That means what you see here is limited, unique, and made just for you.
